2–2.5 t L-Shape Glass Storage Rack for Crane and Forklift Transfer
Two and a half tonnes stays stable. Lift it without the rack wandering. This heavy-duty glass transport rack is configured for large-format glass handling with a reinforced one-piece L frame, four lifting points, and welded forklift channels. Design capacity is subject to project drawings and load calculations. Do not overload.
Confirm Your Rack Design
A rigid glass racking system for loads that must be lifted, not just stored
A thin-wall rack may be adequate for light, stationary sheets. It is a different engineering problem when a large glass load is moved by forklift, hydraulic pallet truck, or crane. The Grack heavy-duty configuration transfers load through the base, upright columns, welded forklift lanes, and four lifting points as one coordinated frame. It is intended for glass fabrication shops, factory internal logistics, warehouse glass organization, and jobsite glass handling where the project requires a defined load rating and controlled transfer method.
Two heavy-duty configurations, one drawing-led approval process
The figures below are reference configurations from project documents, not a blanket rating for every rack. Glass weight, dimensions, center of gravity, handling equipment, floor condition, and lifting method must be checked against the final project drawing before production.
| Reference configuration | Overall size | Load / glass height guidance | Handling interface | Design note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Large one-piece L frame Reference 13475 | 2450 × 740 × 2235 mm | Large-format glass; capacity to be confirmed by project calculation | Four lifting pins; forklift lane built around the national 200 × 100 tube design | Reference drawing lists forklift lane inner spacing 475 mm, inner width 188 mm, and inner height 88 mm. Confirm against the actual fork dimensions before release. |
| 2–2.5 t series Reference 14460 | 1500 × 800 × 1500 mm | Minimum 2 t to maximum 2.5 t reference load; suggested glass height up to 1300 mm | Forklift and manual hydraulic pallet-truck stops; four lifting points | Forklift lane reference: 190 × 75 mm internal size, 850 mm center distance. |
| Lower-height 14460 option | 1500 × 800 × 1000 mm | Suggested glass height up to 800 mm; load requires drawing confirmation | Four lifting points and handling stops | Reference self-weight is 62 kg. Do not transfer the 2–2.5 t range to this option without engineering approval. |

What must be confirmed before fabrication
Send the glass dimensions and weight together with your forklift fork section, fork spacing, lifting method, and site constraints. The rack is designed around the complete handling system—not around a nominal capacity alone.
- Final load and center-of-gravity calculation
- Forklift lane opening, center distance, and entry direction
- Four-point lifting arrangement and approved site procedure
The structure is built around controlled transfer
“Does it carry the glass?” and “Can we move it without flex or twist?” are related but separate questions. The configuration below addresses both, while keeping the final capacity tied to the approved drawing.
One-piece L frame with four lifting points
The 2450 × 740 × 2235 mm reference design uses national 200 × 100 tube for the large base structure. Four lifting pins are positioned at the upper corners so the crane rigging can be connected as a four-point arrangement rather than pulling from one side. In practice, the lifting gear, sling angles, hooks, shackles, load balance, and site lift plan still need to be checked by the responsible lifting team. The four points are a rack interface; they are not permission to exceed the design load or to lift without a controlled procedure.

Full-weld forklift lanes and reinforced base uprights
The 05205 Canada project brief records a specific failure mode: the side forklift lane had detached, while the upright and base had begun to deform. The corrective direction was to fully weld the skid forklift entrance and strengthen the joints, base, and uprights. That is the practical difference between a nominal opening and a load-bearing handling interface. For a new project, the weld details, tube section, reinforcement layout, and inspection points must follow the approved drawing. Fork entry and extraction should be smooth and level; violent or offset fork movements can damage the rack.

Choose heavy-duty when the load is fixed and the movement is real
Use this L-shape glass storage rack when large or heavy glass must be held vertically and then transferred by forklift, pallet truck, crane, or truck. The 14460 reference series covers 1500 × 800 mm frames with a 2–2.5 t reference range; its 190 × 75 mm forklift lane and 850 mm center distance still require confirmation against your equipment. Use the lower-height option only within its approved design limits.
When a thin-wall rack is not the right fit
A lighter rack can make sense for lower loads, low-frequency movement, or a storage-only application with no crane interface. It is not a substitute for a drawing-checked heavy-duty frame when the job involves large glass, repeated handling, side-entry forks, or four-point lifting. Compare the base stiffness, upright reinforcement, forklift-lane welds, rubber protection, and approved load path—not tube appearance alone. See the Glass Storage Rack overview, then review the glass handling articles и request the project discussion.
Need a rack that stays rigid through lifting and fork transfer?
Share the glass size and weight, rack quantity, forklift fork dimensions and spacing, lifting equipment, entry directions, and site drawings. We will confirm whether the one-piece 2450 × 740 × 2235 mm design, the 1500 × 800 mm 2–2.5 t series, or a lower-load configuration is appropriate. All capacity values are design calculation values to be confirmed on project drawings. Never exceed the approved load.
