Wire Cage Pallet Collar for Vertical Pallet Storage: Two Layers, More Warehouse Capacity

A Wire cage pallet collar turns a single pallet into a controlled vertical storage unit: with a 1000mm effective height and two-layer stackability, warehouse teams can store two palletized batches in a planned footprint instead of spreading every load across the floor.

When warehouse floor space is tight, the problem is not always the number of pallets. It is the unused air above them. A conventional floor layout leaves palletized goods in a single layer, while loose material, drums, returnable bins, and work-in-process loads occupy adjacent positions that are difficult to consolidate. The result is low cubic utilization, longer forklift travel, and less room for receiving or production line buffer stock.

The usual alternatives—stretch wrap, strapping, a corrugated box on a pallet, or a rigid wooden crate—secure a load horizontally but do little to create a repeatable vertical storage unit. They can also make access slower, add disposable packaging, or leave empty packaging taking up valuable warehouse storage space. A wire mesh pallet collar is better suited when the pallet must become a reusable, open-top container that can be stacked, handled, and returned.

Why a Wire Cage Pallet Collar Fits a Crowded Warehouse

Mfence is a pallet fence built around the pallet rather than a separate full-base cage. Its bottomless design clips onto a compatible pallet, providing four enclosed sides while preserving the pallet’s handling function. This pallet-to-container conversion gives loose bulk storage, drum storage, and boxed components a defined perimeter without asking the warehouse to dedicate another rigid container for every load. The 1100×1100 format is designed for palletized operations, and tool-free clip assembly keeps the unit practical for changing stock locations or production line buffer use.

Structure That Creates Usable Vertical Volume

The core frame uses 40×40 rectangular steel tube with welded wire mesh panels. A 4mm wire diameter and 100×100 mesh pattern provide a visible enclosure for contained goods, while the steel frame establishes the vertical profile. The effective height is 1000mm, so the collar adds a practical storage level around the pallet instead of merely acting as a low perimeter guard. Stacking feet and inner/outer staggered double hinges help the frames locate in a controlled two-layer arrangement. Four-way fork entry and forklift entry limiters support planned forklift handling, while the open top keeps loading and visual checks straightforward. A 400mm half-opening door can provide faster access to goods without dismantling the entire enclosure.

This combination matters for high-density warehouse storage. The collar does not rely on film tension to hold a mixed load together, and it does not require a permanent lid before the next pallet can be positioned. For loose items, drums, or liquid containers, the welded mesh enclosure helps contain the load and reduce the risk of tipping or falling during internal movement. The exact pallet, load, and stacking plan should still be confirmed for each operation; the product’s documented stackability is a two-layer configuration.

Image Evidence: Two Storage Batches in One Planned Footprint

The stacked render shows the operating logic clearly: one pallet base supports one enclosed load, and a second Mfence unit is positioned above it as a separate storage level. With two layers, a warehouse can assign two batches to the same floor position while keeping each batch within its own pallet collar. That is a more disciplined form of stackable 3D storage than placing uncontained cartons or drums one on top of another. The enclosed sides also make goods easier to identify and protect during stacked transport and forklift handling.

Empty equipment follows a different space plan. When the collars are not in service, the foldable frame collapses to approximately 2300×1100×140mm. At only about 140mm thick in the folded direction, empty units can be placed flat or grouped in a return area instead of consuming a full pallet location. The 47–48kg self weight is also controlled, so the collar adds containment and vertical structure without significantly increasing the pallet load compared with a much heavier standalone cage.

What to Confirm Before Applying the Pallet Fence

  • Floor-space target: For a crowded warehouse, plan the 1000mm effective height and documented two-layer stackability as two controlled pallet levels, rather than assuming unverified higher stacking.
  • Load containment: Match the 100×100 welded mesh enclosure and open-top layout to the goods. The wire cage pallet collar is suited to loose material, drums, bins, and components that need side containment and quick visual access.
  • Handling route: Confirm pallet compatibility, four-way fork entry, forklift entry limiters, and the required access side. The half-opening 400mm door can shorten picking access when the load plan permits it.
  • Empty-return plan: Reserve a flat storage or return zone for the folded 2300×1100×140mm profile. This is where the collapsible frame helps reduce empty return volume and keeps unused collars out of active storage positions.

If your warehouse is losing capacity to single-layer pallet storage, Mfence can help convert existing pallets into stackable, reusable storage units. Share the pallet size, load type, target height, and handling method to review a Wire cage pallet collar configuration for your operation.
