Mfence | Cleanable returnable handling
A steel wire mesh container can turn an existing pallet into a cleanable, traceable handling unit for pharmaceutical and medical-device logistics. Mfence keeps original inner packaging inside a washable welded-steel enclosure while supporting palletized movement, inspection, and repeat cycles.
In a pharmaceutical or medical-device plant, the handling container is part of the quality conversation. Inner packaging may need to remain in its original boxes, but the outer carrier still has to move through warehouse storage, forklift handling, production-line buffer areas, and returnable packaging loops without adding loose fibers or making cleaning impractical. The requirement is not simply to hold a load; it is to control contamination risk, access, identification, and repeat use.
Cardboard cartons and stretch wrap are familiar, but they are disposable or difficult to clean. They can shed fibers, retain dust, and provide no durable frame for stacked transport. A rigid standalone storage cage may be stronger, yet its built-in base can duplicate the pallet, limit pallet compatibility, and complicate the existing material-flow SOP. Mfence takes a different route: its bottomless pallet collar clips onto the pallet and creates a three-dimensional enclosure around the load.
Start with the hygiene and handling boundary
For a clean-oriented cycle, the original inner packaging boxes remain inside the pallet fence rather than being replaced by a new fiber-based outer carton. Between cycles, the welded steel mesh frame can be washed, inspected, and returned to service without relying on a fiber-shedding surface. That makes a metal pallet collar a practical carrier for sites building handling procedures around cleanability, traceability, and low contamination. It does not itself certify an ISO 13485 or cGMP system; instead, its washable, reusable construction can be evaluated inside the customer’s validated cleaning and release procedure. The mesh remains visible for checking labels, box count, and load condition before forklift handling.

Why Mfence fits a pallet-led cleanable workflow
The product is a foldable pallet collar, not a standalone storage cage. Its clip-on frame borrows the pallet as the bottom, so the customer gains pallet-to-container conversion without adding a second heavy base. A typical project reference uses a 1100×1100mm pallet, while custom dimensions, mesh, door layout, and finish must be confirmed against the site’s pallet, load, and cleaning method. The open-top, bottomless design supports direct inspection and washing; the frame can be removed as panels when the pallet cycle is complete. For access after stacking, the referenced configuration uses 400mm half-opening doors with about 600mm lower containment, balancing retrieval with load security. Four-way fork entry can be specified where the final pallet design requires it, subject to production confirmation.
Use measurable evidence to control the cycle
Dimensions should be tied to the actual container and handling SOP rather than copied from a generic pallet collar quotation. In one Mfence reference for 20kg liquid-filled plastic drums, the design allows 16 drums per layer and two layers inside a 1000mm effective storage height; two loaded units are shown as a stacking requirement. The project configuration uses 100×100mm welded mesh, 4mm wire, and a 40×40×1.5mm rectangular-tube frame. These are project facts, not a universal load rating. The same reference records approximately 47kg self-weight for that tube option and a folded size of about 2300×1100×140mm after the double-fold arrangement. The image below supports the modular, stackable returnable-unit concept, while final loading, rack compatibility, and cleaning validation still require engineering review.

Specification checkpoints for an ISO 13485 / cGMP-oriented container loop
- Cleanability: define the wash chemistry, rinse, drying, inspection, and release steps; Mfence supplies a welded steel mesh carrier without fiber-shedding cardboard surfaces.
- Traceability: assign an asset ID to each reusable metal collar and record pallet, load, cleaning status, and return cycle in the customer’s quality system.
- Containment: match 100×100mm mesh, 4mm wire, door openings, and any inner liner to the smallest item and the actual liquid-container or parts load.
- Movement and storage: confirm four-way fork entry, pallet dimensions, stacking feet, two-unit stacking, and any racking interface before approving the final drawing.
