WAREHOUSE STORAGE · PALLET COLLAR APPLICATION
When floor space is tight, a stackable pallet collar can turn each 1100×1100 pallet into a controlled vertical storage unit. Mfence adds a 1000mm effective containment height, supports two-layer stacking, and folds to approximately 140mm when empty.
Warehouse managers often have enough pallets but not enough usable cubic capacity. A single layer of cartons, bins, drums, or loose components occupies its full floor footprint, while the space above remains unused. The problem becomes more expensive when racking storage is unavailable, when WIP must stay close to a production line, or when a warehouse needs to hold several logistics unit loads for a short period. The practical target is not simply more pallet positions. It is more contained volume per position, without creating an unstable load that is difficult to move.
The usual workaround is stretch wrap, pallet wrap, strapping, banding, or a corrugated box placed on the pallet. These methods can contain a load temporarily, but they do not create a repeatable stacking interface. Film and banding add labor and are difficult to reuse; cartons lose rigidity when exposed to handling and moisture; a rigid wooden pallet collar can add return volume and may not suit a mixed-use warehouse. None of these options naturally combines loose material containment, forklift handling, and collapsible return logistics in one reusable frame.
Why a pallet collar fits the vertical-storage problem
Mfence is a wire mesh pallet collar designed to clip onto a pallet and convert a flat load carrier into a three-dimensional storage unit. Its bottomless design uses the pallet as the load floor, while the welded wire mesh panels keep goods within the pallet footprint. The 1100×1100 format provides a defined base, and the 1000mm effective height adds useful volume without requiring a separate cage or a permanent rack bay. Stacking feet and corner locating features let one collar sit on another, so two layers can hold two batches of goods in the same floor position. This is useful for loose bulk storage, drum storage, production line buffer stock, and WIP storage where access and containment matter at the same time.

What the frame and dimensions change in daily handling
The space gain comes from a simple sequence: clip the frame onto the pallet, load inside the welded enclosure, position the stacking feet, and move the unit with a forklift or pallet truck. A 40×40 rectangular tube frame, welded wire mesh panels, and a galvanized steel finish provide visible structure rather than relying on consumable packaging. The panel arrangement also supports enclosed guard conditions for irregular parts and loose items. A 400mm half-opening door can reduce the reach required for picking, while the clip-on assembly is tool-free. Four-way fork entry supports more flexible approach directions during forklift handling. When the load is gone, the foldable pallet collar collapses flat; the folded package is approximately 2300×1100×140mm and the self weight is about 47–48kg, so empty units can be consolidated for return or stored without consuming a normal pallet position.
The product images show why these details matter. The loaded multi-unit view demonstrates stacked pallet-to-container conversion and the use of vertical space. The flat-fold view shows that the same enclosure can leave the storage area after use instead of becoming a permanent obstruction. The open mesh construction keeps the load visible for identification and inventory checks, while the frame, corner posts, and stacking locations make the two-layer arrangement a repeatable warehouse process rather than an improvised pile.
The measurable warehouse result: more volume, less empty handling
For a warehouse limited by floor area, the first result is increased storage density: two 1000mm-high collars can store two controlled batches above one pallet footprint, subject to the site’s load, floor, and handling assessment. The second result is faster palletizing because operators do not need to wrap each load repeatedly. The third is safer transport containment for drums, liquid containers, and loose items that could otherwise tip or spill. The fourth is a smaller reverse-logistics footprint. A collapsible pallet collar can be folded flat when empty, reducing empty return volume and supporting a reusable metal collar program instead of disposable packaging. In other words, the same asset improves occupied storage, handling, and the return journey.

How to apply the pallet collar in a space-constrained warehouse
- For vertical density, specify the 1100×1100 base, 1000mm effective height, and two-layer stacking arrangement so the second batch is planned as a controlled unit, not an overloaded pile.
- For loose bulk storage or drums, use the bottomless pallet-to-container format and welded mesh enclosure to contain the load while keeping it visible for warehouse checks.
- For mixed handling routes, confirm forklift handling, pallet truck access, four-way fork entry, and the 400mm half-opening door against the actual aisle and picking process.
- For returnable packaging, plan the empty flow around the approximately 140mm folded thickness and 47–48kg self weight so collapsed collars can be stored or returned without taking regular occupied positions.
