Solar collector and commercial refrigeration line logistics

Not only for glass: AGrack can support vertical in-plant turnover of rigid collector panels and refrigeration door panels when the material, dimensions, load path, and handling method are engineered to match. Fold it for return transport and recover warehouse and freight capacity.

Solar collector manufacturers and commercial refrigeration assembly plants often move large, thin panels through several short production stages. The material may be glass, coated sheet, a door panel, or another rigid board, but the logistics problem is similar: it must stand vertically, remain separated from hard steel, stay in the same size family, and move from line to buffer storage without repeated repacking. AGrack is a collapsible glass storage transport rack designed around that operating pattern—not a universal container for loose or unstable goods.

The practical question is therefore not simply “Can non-glass panels use it?” The answer is conditional: yes, when the panel is rigid, has a controlled footprint and weight, can be supported at a defined lean angle, and does not react adversely with the rack’s EPDM contact protection. A sample load, center-of-gravity review, and handling trial should confirm the final fit before a production rollout.

Solar collector panels: vertical WIP turnover without changing the unit

For a solar collector glass or rigid collector panel line, the rack should be assigned to one consistent panel family. Panels are loaded vertically against the protected supports, kept in the same orientation, and identified as a production batch. The Q235 carbon steel frame, square steel uprights, integrated forklift pockets, and lashing points create a defined handling base for in-plant transportation. The vertical load path is carried by the rack structure rather than pressing through the panel body. This is useful between cutting, coating, assembly, inspection, and finished-goods staging, provided the panel dimensions and total load stay within the engineered configuration. The rack can then remain the unitized carrier from the production line to the next station instead of sending panels through disposable crates and a second unpacking cycle.

Commercial refrigeration doors: separate the application, keep the control logic

Commercial refrigerator and freezer door panels should be treated as a separate application, not mixed with collector panels in one loading plan. Use a dedicated rack setup for the door-panel envelope, surface finish, edge treatment, and mass distribution. The same principles still apply: vertical storage, one defined size range, stable stacking, and a controlled return loop. Contact points should use the rack’s industrial-grade EPDM rubber padding rather than bare metal. The standard protection is a 10 mm steel-cored EPDM strip mechanically secured with countersunk screws, avoiding the aging and debonding risk of ordinary glued padding. Operators must also keep the front stop block in place, insert the safety pin, and use approved straps or lashing points; cutting away a stop block or improvising a contact surface changes the safety design and is not an acceptable adaptation.

Loaded stacking and folded return: where the freight saving comes from

Once panels are kept to the same specification, the rack’s stackable design can be used for full-load buffer storage. Self-locking cup feet and steel uprights guide the upper rack into the lower rack, while the vertical structure carries static force to the floor. The reference configuration is rated at 1,500 kg dynamic load and 4,500 kg static load; the actual non-glass program must still be checked against its panel weight, center of gravity, rack height, floor condition, and handling equipment. When the rack is empty, the side gates and rear support fold toward the base. The folded height is designed below 250 mm in the referenced configuration, allowing nested empty racks to occupy roughly 20–30% of their original volume. That is why return freight can fall: the saving comes from reduced empty volume, not from assuming every load can share the same rack. Compare the folded stack height and vehicle or container loading plan against disposable packaging and fixed steel A-frames before approving the business case.

Before specifying a non-glass panel turnover rack

  • Confirm the material and surface: rigid collector glass, coated panel, or refrigeration door panel must be compatible with the 10 mm steel-cored EPDM contact strips; loose parts, bulk goods, round loads, and unstable flexible materials are outside this use case.
  • Confirm one size family and vertical geometry: provide panel length, width, thickness, edge condition, lean angle, quantity per rack, and center of gravity so the uprights, front stop block, safety pin, and lashing method can be checked together.
  • Confirm stacking and handling: full-load stacking is only for an approved configuration using the self-locking cup feet, sound floor, suitable forklift pockets, and the stated 1,500 kg dynamic / 4,500 kg static reference limits or an agreed engineered revision.
  • Confirm the return loop: count empty racks, folded height, nested stack height, route distance, and container or truck limits. The freight case depends on the real recovery cycle, not on a generic claim of savings.

Moving non-glass panels through a production line? Submit the material, panel dimensions, weight, quantity per rack, handling equipment, and return route. We will assess whether the AGrack vertical turnover configuration fits—and identify the limits if it does not.
