Glass Vacuum Lifter · Coating-Line Hand-Off
A glass vacuum lifter at the coating-line hand-off keeps the custom-order mirror lite off the multi-operator lift. GSR CVLift replaces the four-hand hand-off with silica gel adsorption, so the post-coating scratch rate drops before the lite reaches the packing bench.

The hand-off after the coating line is the most expensive hand-off on a custom-order mirror line. The lite has the silver coating on it already, the coating was paid for, and the slot in the coating line was already booked. A scratch at this hand-off writes off the coating, the slot, the silver, and the order, because a custom-order mirror lite cannot be replaced in the order book on a weekly delivery. The buyer is waiting on this specific lite, with this specific coating, in this specific size, and the next order slot is two weeks out. A scratch on the coated face is not a recovery. It is a return, a rush, and a margin loss the line cannot write off in one quarter.
A glass vacuum lifter that lives at the coating-line hand-off takes the multi-operator lift off the lite the buyer is auditing. CVLift grips the lite on silica gel suction cups that hold the pane on a controlled force distribution, and the lift, the flip, and the rotation run from a control panel one operator runs from outside the lite. There is no four-hand hand-off between the coating line and the packing bench, and there is no grit-specked glove reaching in to steady the lite at the wrong moment. The lite that left the coating line reaches the packing bench on the same soft contact it was lifted on.
Why the Coating-Line Hand-Off Is the Most Expensive Hand-Off
The hand-off after the coating line is the highest-stakes hand-off on a custom-order mirror line because every prior step has already been paid for. The silver was deposited. The coating line slot was booked. The cutting slot, the edge work, the wash, the dryer, all of it is sunk cost before the lite reaches the hand-off the operator is about to do. A scratch at this hand-off does not just lose the lite. It loses the silver, the coating line slot, the wash slot, the cutting slot, and the slot in the order book the buyer is waiting on.
The hand-off itself is also the most exposed hand-off on the line. Two operators are usually involved. Four hands are on the lite, with four chances for a glove to slip across the coated face, for a strap to land on the silver, or for an edge to clip the conveyor. The operators know the risk. The risk is not avoidable in the manual lift. The manual lift is the risk.
Why a Glass Vacuum Lifter Keeps the Multi-Operator Lift Off the Lite
A glass vacuum lifter at the coating-line hand-off keeps the multi-operator lift off the lite because the workstation does the lift. CVLift grips the lite on silica gel suction cups and runs the lift, the flip, and the rotation from a control panel the operator runs from outside the lite. The lite that comes out of the coating line on the conveyor hangs from the workstation’s suction cups through the hand-off, and there is no second operator reaching in to steady the pane. The four-hand hand-off that drives the post-coating scratch stops being in the move.

One operator runs the hand-off from a control panel, and the lite that just came off the coating line stays on silica gel suction cups through the flip.
The lite that reaches the packing bench is the lite the coating line put out. No grit on the silver from a glove steadying the hand-off. No clip on the bottom edge from a strap the operator did not pad. No scratch across the coated face from a contact the coating manager did not see. The lite goes onto the packing bench with the surface the coating line deposited, and the packing bench hands it to the buyer in the condition the line produced it.
Structure and Parameters That Hold the Hand-Off on the Lite
The build is what lets the lite stay on soft contact through the post-coating hand-off. The frame is powder-coated steel with a vertical lifting mast and an articulated boom sized for the workstation. The silica gel suction cups are the contact surface, and on the documented TR-FZ350-4 configuration the cup diameter is 250 mm so the contact pressure on the silver stays low. The suction cup position is adjustable along the cross beam to match different mirror sizes, and the dual-circuit vacuum system with a pressure sensor, safety tank, non-return valve, and audible and visual alarm means a vacuum fault stops the move before the lite drops on the silver.
- Silica gel suction cups leave no abrasive trace on silver and coated faces
- Single-operator handling at the workstation, no four-hand hand-off after the coating line
- 90 degree flip and 360 degree rotation at controlled speed, not at hand speed
- Adjustable suction cup position across mirror and coated lite sizes
- Dual-circuit vacuum system with pressure sensor, safety tank, non-return valve, audible and visual alarm
- Build supplied for CE / EN 13155 compliance on documented configurations

The custom-order mirror lite lands on the packing bench the way the coating line put it out, and the multi-hand hand-off is off the silver.
What the Custom-Order Scrap Rate Looks Like Without the Hand-Off
Put a glass vacuum lifter at the coating-line hand-off and the multi-operator lift stops being the hand-off that drives the post-coating scrap. The custom-order mirror lite reaches the packing bench on silica gel suction cups with no grit, no strap, no clip, and no four-hand contact on the silver. The scrap rate that the coating manager was writing up after every shift drops at the hand-off, and the slot in the order book that the buyer was waiting on stops being the slot that gets bumped because of a coating-line hand-off scratch.
The honest scope is mid-format. CVLift is sized at 250 kg on the documented configuration and 300 to 500 kg on other variants the factory is still aligning. The mirror and coated lite sizes that fit inside that envelope, including the laminated mirror and most architectural coated lites, see the full hand-off benefit the moment the workstation is in. Anything above that envelope, including the very largest architectural mirror panels, is out of scope until the rated configuration is matched and a higher-capacity CVLift variant is confirmed. Send GSR your coating-line hand-off cell layout and your current post-coating scrap rate, and we will tell you which CVLift configuration takes the multi-hand hand-off off the silver without overstating the rated load.
