Heavy duty slab rack with ratchet straps

You have spent hours on the Bridge Saw cutting a premium Quartz Slab. Your team has polished the edges to perfection. But when you open the van doors at the customer’s driveway, you hear the sound every Stone Fabricator dreads: the crunch of a cracked slab.

Stone doesn’t forgive. Unlike wood or metal, granite and quartz have zero flexibility. If your transport rack flexes when the truck hits a bump, your stone takes the stress and snaps. Stop gambling your profits on flimsy, light-duty frames. Secure your worktops with Heavy-Duty Slab Transport Racks engineered specifically for the stone industry.

The “Flex” Factor: Why Spot-Welds Fail Stone

A standard glass rack might hold 1,000kg. A rack full of 30mm Granite can easily weigh 2,500kg. Under this immense load, a cheap rack held together by spot welds acts like a spring. It twists and bows as the vehicle moves.

Our racks are built with Full Seam Welding (Continuous Weld) on heavy-gauge Q235 Steel profiles. This creates a rigid “Monocoque” structure that refuses to twist. The rack absorbs the road vibration so your brittle stone doesn’t have to. It is the difference between a successful install and an expensive insurance claim.

Protecting the Polish: No Metal-on-Stone Contact

Your customers pay for a mirror finish, not scratches. Loading a polished Marble Island onto bare steel is asking for trouble.

We integrate a dual-protection system. The base and backrests are lined with high-density Timber Blocks or industrial Rubber Profiles. This provides just enough cushion to grip the smooth surface of the stone, preventing it from sliding, while ensuring that absolutely no metal touches your product. Your slabs arrive in the kitchen in the exact condition they left the polishing machine.

Engineered for weight: Reinforced steel base designed to handle high-density granite loads without bowing.

From Factory to Fit-Out

Efficiency in a stone workshop is about reducing handling. Every time you lift a slab with a clamp, you risk chipping an edge.

Our A-Frame Slab Racks are designed with Forklift Channels and optional heavy-duty casters. You can load the rack directly off the CNC machine, forklift it onto the delivery truck, and then forklift it off at the job site. The stone stays on the rack until the Kitchen Fitters are ready to place it on the cabinets. This “One-Move” workflow drastically reduces labor costs and breakage risk.

Safety is Non-Negotiable with Stone

A falling sheet of glass is dangerous; a falling slab of granite is fatal. In the UK and Ireland, Health & Safety executives are cracking down on unsecured loads.

Our racks come standard with integrated Ratchet Securing Poles (Safety Bars). Unlike loose straps that can slip, these steel bars lock the slabs physically against the A-frame. Even in a sudden braking event, the heavy stone cannot tip forward. It protects your driver, your vehicle, and your business license.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can these racks hold both 20mm and 30mm stone slabs?

Yes. The A-frame design supports the slabs evenly regardless of thickness. The ratchet securing bars are adjustable to hold a single thin sheet or a full stack of thick slabs tightly.

2. What is the maximum weight capacity?

Our heavy-duty stone series is rated for up to 3,000kg (3 Tonnes). We use thicker wall steel tubing specifically to handle the density of granite and quartz.

3. Do the timber blocks rot over time?

We use treated timber or polymer-composite blocks designed for outdoor longevity. They are also bolted on, not welded, so they can be easily replaced if they eventually wear out.

4. Are these racks compatible with overhead cranes?

Yes, all our stone racks feature fully welded Lifting Eyes on the top beam, tested for lifting fully loaded racks safely with an overhead bridge crane or site crane.

5. Can I transport this rack in a standard transit van?

We offer compact models specifically dimensioned to fit between the wheel arches of standard commercial vans (like Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter), maximizing your payload utility.
