In Lean Manufacturing, “Muda” means waste. And in most glass factories, the biggest source of waste isn’t material scrap—it’s motion and waiting. If your operators are walking 50 steps to fetch a glass sheet, or waiting for a forklift to move a heavy A-frame, you are bleeding efficiency. The glass harp rack is designed to eliminate these non-value-added activities, turning your static storage into a dynamic, mobile workflow that keeps the glass moving. |
Waste #1: The “Search and Shuffle” (Sorting Efficiency)
The bottleneck in IGU production is rarely the sealing robot; it’s the “pairing” process. When cut glass arrives in a random sequence, operators using traditional carts waste minutes shuffling through sheets to find the matching unit.
Our solution is Visual Sequencing.
Look closely at the base of our racks. We integrate a numbered scale right next to the rollers. This simple feature transforms the rack into a physical sorting grid. Operators place “Order A-Inner” in Slot 1 and “Order A-Outer” in Slot 2. No searching, no confusion. The rack arrives at the assembly line perfectly sorted.
Waste #2: The Cost of “Shipping Air” (Logistics)
For global glass fabricators, the cost of equipment isn’t just the price tag; it’s the “Landed Cost.” Importing fully welded racks is financial suicide because a 40ft container mostly holds empty air.
We tackled this with our Modular Knock-Down Design.
Instead of welding everything, we use high-strength bolted connections (Q235A Carbon Steel). This allows us to flat-pack the entire unit into compact wooden crates.
- 300% More Density: You can fit 3x as many racks in a container compared to welded competitors.
- Lower Freight: Your shipping cost per unit drops dramatically.
- Easy In-Plant Transport: Move the crates to tight spaces in your factory before assembly.
Waste #3: Space Utilization (High Density Storage)
Factory floor space is expensive real estate. Lean manufacturing demands high density. Traditional A-frames require a wide “lean angle” to be stable, which eats up aisle width.
Our Harp Racks store glass vertically. This 90-degree orientation, combined with our compact bolt-connected uprights, maximizes the number of sheets you can store per square meter. Whether you are storing 4mm sheets or heavy laminated units, the structural integrity of our frame allows for maximum density without sacrificing safety.

Vertical storage maximizes floor space efficiency while the bolted structure ensures heavy-duty load capacity.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the bolted structure as strong as a welded one?
Absolutely. We use industrial-grade bolts and Q235A Carbon Steel. The design is engineered to handle dynamic loads of 1,500kg+. Once assembled, it provides the same rigidity as a welded frame but with the added benefit of being repairable if a single part gets damaged.
2. Can I replace the nylon rollers if they wear out?
Yes. Unlike some competitors who weld rollers into the frame, our roller assemblies are modular. You can easily unbolt and replace individual rollers or the entire bottom track, extending the lifespan of the rack indefinitely.
3. Does the rack come with a floor lock?
Yes. Safety is paramount. We include a foot-actuated lifting mechanism. This lifts the wheels off the ground, ensuring the rack cannot roll while you are loading heavy glass, even on sloped or slick floors.
4. How many racks fit in a 40ft container?
Thanks to the flat-pack design, we can fit significantly more units than welded alternatives. The exact number depends on the model (e.g., HR-40 vs. HR-84), but generally, you can expect a 300% increase in shipping density, drastically lowering your freight cost per rack.
5. What if I need to store very thin glass (3mm)?
We recommend our “Full Base” option for thin glass. Instead of rollers which have gaps, we install a slotted HDPE or PVB floor. This provides continuous support for the bottom edge, preventing thin glass from bowing or cracking during transport.
